DISC Substitue individual track pieces.Begin with your DS64 powered up. Turnouts can be either connected or not. This indicates that the DS64 is ready to change the option switches.

Using your DCC throttle, select the Switch Address that corresponds to the OpSw number and send the Closed or Thrown command corresponding to the setting you have chosen. Refer to If you have more than four turnouts, you will need to program the addresses. The DS64 is shipped from the factory with these outputs programmed as Switch Addresses 01, 02, 03, and 04 respectively. You can set the Switch Address of each of these four Outputs to any value from 01 - Only one type of turnout motor can be used on any particular DS If you have both slow motion and solenoid controlled turnouts on your railroad, different DS64s must be used for each type of turnout.

Kato makes a Unitrack double-crossover, their No. If you are wiring the DS51K1 internally to this track segment, it is easiest to program each turnout pair to the same address; done this way, activating one track switch address will result in the DS64 can be used as a LocoNet device. Either can be used to connect to LocoNet, with the other being used to connect to other LocoNet devices.

There are three different ways to power the DS The PS14 power supply can be used with Auxiliary or the rear modular power connector. The DS64 requires mA for proper operation. Only one DS64 can be powered per PS This procedure is best done after installation of the decoder to the turnout. The process is "blind", so it is easier to program this decoder after installation because you can then test the operation of the turnout with its new address.

The DS51K1 can be installed into the base of the turnout or attached to the bottom of the layout near the turnout. Turn off track power and temporarily connect the yellow programming wire from the DS51K1 to the same rail as the black wire. Turn on track power.

Using your throttle, select the address you want to program into Kato manufactures both a 4 and 6 turnout; one DS51K1 will control one Kato turnout solenoid.

In cases where there are two turnouts in a crossover track arrangement, you must use two DS51K1s, each assigned to the same address. Installation of the four decoder wires requires soldering skills. And, just to make things interesting, Kato uses the colors of black and red for their turnout control wires, while Digitrax uses black and red for the power and data bus.

You will make four connections, two connected to the turnout motor and two Kato Unitrack compatible bi-polar drive. DCC compatible. There are two jumpers on the DS52 stationary decoder board. To properly use your DS52 you must be sure these jumpers are in the correct position. What is N Scale?

Charm of N Scale. Elegant in design and function. The Unitrack Features. DC, 2-Rail system. Easy plug-in wiring for track and accessories. Wide variety for any layout et. Perfect for any skill level. Master Sets. Starter Sets. Long formation trains! One of the best features of N scale is the possibility of enjoying prototypical, long formation trains such as high speed express trains.

Even with limited space, trains of coaches can be achieved. In order to run N gauge the above three elements are required. Realistic and smooth running. Easy to handle for beginners Assembly easy and durable track.

Flexible control of speed and direction. Line-up of railroad facilities and town buildings at stations and platforms. You can express trees, grass and snow, rocks and water, all kinds of ground. Likewise, if you operate your trains on a daily basis, you'll have to clean your track less often and have fewer instances of lost conductivity! Standard single track wooden ties. Elevated Viaduct single track wooden ties.

One of the biggest benefits of using KATO UNITRACK is the variety of track styles to choose from - with various types of single and double track including viaduct and pier sections for runnning elevated trains and even street tracks, complete with compatible road sections and pre-built structures for making city scenes! Your only limit is your imagination!

Elevated Viaduct double track concrete slabs. Street style double track. Ground level. Turnouts, crossings and crossovers make your model railway more interesting.

They are indispensable at stations, sidings and engine sheds. Unitrack double track items are perfect for replicating modern scenes with pre-cast concrete sleepers ties and slabs. On a curve, there is inbuilt "cant" small incline so that trains realistically lean inwards when travelling. These sections are really easy to set up and put away as well.

Curves on double tracks is superelevated-inclined inward. Can be connected to the rail bed end of varrious kinds of single or double tracks without double cirve tracks.I mentioned in another thread I started about DCC that I am in the early phases currently of constructing a new layout in a 20 X 20 foot basement addition recently added to our home.

I wanted to check on opinions about the usage of Kata unitrack n scale for a permanent layout. I have never built a permanent layout with it and was very turned off by it and other similar types of track from other companies when it first came out. I really liked the look of the concrete tie doulbe track sections and in particular the super elevated curves.

So I went ahead and bought a set. I have to say that I am thoroughly impressed with the stuff. I have found it to be completely bullet proof. I have assembled and dissassembled the loop of track MANY times and each time I put it back togehter it has worked absolutely flawlessly. For that reason I am seriously considering using it on my new layout. I know that it will limit some aspects of forming curves and such that are possible with flex track.

The attraction for me is that ballasting track is not one of the more appealing parts of this hobby to me. I am also not a huge fan of cutting code 55 flex track as I have ruined more than one piece of that stuff trying to get it cut to the right size. I just wanted to get some others thoughts and experiences with the stuff before making my final decision. I am particularly interested in durability and long term electrical continuity with unitrack. I should mention that will be using a 12 gage bus to power the layout and am intersted in opinions on how close together should the leads be to take power from the bus to the track.

I have heard everything from having terminal joiners between every section to as far away as 14 ft between terminals. Thanks very much for any info anyone is willing to share. I don't know about the spacing as I only have a small layout with a 14 ga bus and 3 feeders two on the ends one in the middle but I can tell you I am not a fan of terminal joiners The break off too easily At least the atlas ones do.

I was involved with Unitrak quite a few years ago, and I still have several shoeboxes overflowing with track and accessories and whatnot. I will be using lots of it for the lower deck and staging areas of my current layout build.

Don't let the elites and naysayers talk you out of it if you want to do an entire layout with it. There are some serious Kato modellers around who have done just that. Here's a link to their website: JapanRailModellers.

Regarding feeder spacing: the joiners of Unitrak are so well-made that you could easily go 10 or 15 feet with no worries whatsoever. And don't worry about the curves. There are many options and possibilities in the Kato Universe. Thank you very much for the reply, Joe. I can and have soldered track before so that won't be a problem if I need to do it again for this layout.

I was hoping that maybe it could be avoided because like ballasting it's not part of the hobby that I am completely in love with. So far I've had absolutley zero problems with the Kato unijoiners. I just haven't ever built a layout as big as the one I am starting to build now so this is somewhat new territory for me.

Either way, thank you for the feedback. I appreciate it. Thanks very much for taking the time to reply. This pictorial diagram shows us a physical connection that is much easier to understand in an electrical circuit or system. An electrical diagram can indicate all the interconnections, indicating their relative positions. The use of this Array can be positively recognized in a production project or in solving electrical problems.

Track & Scenery

This can prevent a lot of damage that even derail electrical plans. The layout facilitates communication between electrical engineers designing electrical circuits and implementing them.

The pictures are also helpful in making repairs.

It shows whether the installation has been appropriately designed and implemented while confirming the safety regulators. A usually gives information about the relative position and arrangement of devices and terminals on the devices, to help in building or servicing the device. This is unlike a schematic diagram, where the arrangement of the components interconnections on the diagram usually does not correspond to the components physical locations in the finished device.

A pictorial would show more detail of the physical appearance, whereas a wiring diagram uses a more symbolic notation to emphasize interconnections over physical appearance. They only provide general information and cannot be used to repair or examine a circuit. The functions of different equipment used within the circuit get presented with the help of a schematic diagram whose symbols generally include vertical and horizontal lines.

However, these lines are known to show the flow of the system rather than its wires. A represents the original and physical layout of electrical interconnections. Wiring on the picture with different symbols shows the exact location of equipment in the whole circuit. Its components are shown by the pictorial to be easily identifiable. They are often photos attached with highly-detailed drawings or labels of the physical components.

A person with a strong knowledge of electrical wiring diagrams can only understand a pictorial.Check out our.

I recently setup an oval so my kids could run the N Scale stuff we've been given by some friends of ours. I've wired an HO layout before many, many, many moons ago but for some reaons I felt completely lost looking at the N scale track.

It's simplicity was really appealing. I picked up the basic set, brought it home, dug out one of my old power packs Tech II Railmaster from the boxes of HO stuff I have and within a couple of minutes, I had it up and running.

Besides the problem I had with the couplers, it's been fun running this. My youngest son will sit for over an hour running the train, putting on more cars, etc. I wouldn't mind making something bigger, but I'm wondering -- should I buy more of the KATO stuff or go for the full blown tabletop nail down the track sort of layout?

Member since December From: US posts. Posted by bcammack on Tuesday, July 15, AM. I'm on my first N scale layout on a 2'x4' board. It costs more than regular track, but there's a strong value proposition when you consider it's trouble-free nature and ease of installation against the individual costs of all the traditional components and all your labor to implement them.

N scale railroad equipment can be finicky about the quality of the road it's running on and not having to deal with fine-tuning your new layout to get the trains to run on it is worth something to most. I've seen it painted with Fleck-Stone to make it look quite good. You just snap the rails and ties out, as I understand, and paint the roadbed alone.

Places like Toy Train Heaven sell Unitrack at a good discount, bettering the value proposition. The Kato Unitrack brochure is available on-line as an Adobe Acrobat pdf file, too, so you can make some better sense of the universe of part numbers and terse descriptions you find for the stuff when shopping for it on-line.

It just looks too rigid. However, I can see it's application for a child's layout. I have no personal experience with the Kato Product, but my son-in-law used it on a small layout and had very good luck with it.
